Type Description

The Bürkert ME64 input/output modules complement the ME63 Industrial Ethernet gateway and are used to acquire various sensor and control signals. Depending on the model, there are either 16 fixed digital inputs or universal I/O channels available, which can be individually configured as analogue inputs (AI), digital inputs (DI) or digital outputs (DO). This allows the ME64 Type to be flexibly adapted to the requirements of the specific application – from simple switching signals to variable sensor and actuator configurations. The signals acquired by the ME64 are transmitted to the ME63 gateway via a CANopen-based internal bus. Further processing, e.g. via an Industrial Ethernet communication protocol to a higher-level programmable logic controller or field level, is carried out centrally via the gateway. When used in combination with valve terminal components such as the AirLINE Field Type 8653 (pneumatic control of process valves) or with decentralised process valve programmable logic controllers such as the Type 8691, the Type ME64 is ideal for local acquisition of feedback signals – even in splash-proof environments directly on the plant. Using the gateway’s central configuration management system, the ME64 type can be easily replaced or expanded as a client as required, without the need for extensive modifications to the programmable logic controller. The ME63 and ME64 types are part of the Bürkert EDIP concept (Efficient Device Integration Platform). It simplifies the integration of field devices such as valves or sensors into higher-level automation and control systems and completes Bürkert’s Efficient Device Integration Platform (EDIP) system architecture.
